1) 3 different groups that have not received equal representation are First Nations, Women, Disabled.
Women played a big role in world war 1. They were work in mans jobs because of recruitment, attrition and conscription. From WW1,68% women changed their jobs and 22% of them were unemployed. In about the early 1900's the women in Canada were not allowed to vote. In 1916 women had the right to vote in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. Women were always seen to be less then men.
2) The reason why the changes were made were to remove discrimination, restoring status and membership rights, and increasing control of Indian bands over their own affairs. There was certain rules that replaced the old ones, they had to follow like treat men and women equally, prevent anyone from gaining or losing status through marriage, and restore Indian status for those who lost it through discrimination. The First Nations people would be in favor for this new rule but the people that were discriminating the First Nations people would oppose of it. The reason a Bill like this would get passed is to stop discrimination and to be consistent in trying to make everyone feel equal.
3) Bill C-31 was added to get rid of discrimination and inequality.
4) -The rule of law is that no one is above the law
- No the rule of law is not in place at this school because the teacher is allowed to have coffee in the lab which is a beverage. The students which also water is a type of beverage shouldn't be able to have anything in there. If they say no beverages in the lab then thats what the rule should be no exceptions.
- The three principles of the Rule of Law are that No one is above the law, there is no exceptions to breaking the law, and everyone should get equal punishment for breaking the rule. They are all broken by the teacher and students with water didn't get in trouble because the rule supposedly doesn't apply to the teacher or water. The principal of the school just let them away with it and they never got any punishment.
I asked you to make a brochure either supporting or opposing Bill C-31. I also asked you to provide details about the Bill why it was enacted and to explain why it would not be accepted by all Canadians.
